Suryodaya Municipality is one of the 10 municipalities in Ilam District of Koshi Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 54,727, comprising 27,382 males (50.0%) and 27,345 females (50.0%), with a literacy rate of 85.25%. Spanning 252.52 square kilometers, Suryodaya Municipality exhibits the population density of 217 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 14 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Suryodaya has 69 schools. Of these, 16 are private and 52 are public. The breakdown includes 43 pre-schools, 68 basic schools, and 23 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 9 offer +2 programs.
