Shankharapur Municipality is one of the 11 municipalities in Kathmandu District of Bagmati Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 29,318, comprising 14,433 males (49.2%) and 14,885 females (50.8%), with a literacy rate of 79.95%. Spanning 60.21 square kilometers, Shankharapur Municipality exhibits the population density of 487 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 9 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Shankharapur has 38 schools. Of these, 12 are private and 25 are public.
