The school mess is managed by Mr. Som Raj Bajagai (Chef at Hotel De L’ Annapurna) and Mr. Gopal Koirala (Food and Beverage Manager). The Meals are meticulously prepared by experienced cooks and served by trained kitchen helpers. The hostel wardens and teachers on duty supervise the service and ensure that every child eats balanced meals. Dining etiquette is also taught. The kitchen staff are given regular workshops on the maintenance of high standard hygiene and cleanliness by the chef
A well-equipped school infirmary is set up to provide primary health services. There is provision for licensed medical staff on duty round the clock. Basic medication and treatment services are provided in the infirmary. In case of emergency, cases are referred to Sumeru Hospital located beside the school campus. For boarders, the health check-up is done regularly by eminent doctors: a pediatrician and a physician. We also provide students medical insurance in case of accidents that might occur in school. There is a limit to the insurance claim, but nevertheless, we try our level best to support our students medically.
The school provides transport facilities to day scholars from designated stops. Junior students should be escorted to the notified bus stop and handed to the school staff. The escort should be present at the bus stop to receive the child after classes are over, otherwise, the child will be brought back to school. For a child to come unescorted, a written application has to be submitted. Every student is required to possess a BUS PASS and ID tag which must be visible and worn around the neck at the time of boarding the bus, entering the school campus, and while attending the evening assembly before boarding the bus.
GEMS gives top priority in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students and staff alike. Having residential students on board with us, it is apparent that we have 24 hours security personnel on duty who work on a six-hourly rotation basis. The outsource security and our own team of security personnel ensure that the school’s safety and security plans are carefully executed.
About 99 surveillance cameras are installed in various areas of the school and the entry points. We have a control room where an officer monitors the CCTV footage throughout the day. Security of people is placed at the highest priority at GEMS. We have a team of well-trained and hi-tech-equipped guards, who are strategically posted at each gate.
