Situated in the mid-hill region of Nepal, Lamjung is one of the 11 districts of Gandaki Province that spreads over 1692 square kilometers. The district's name is derived from two words, “Lama” and “Jong,” meaning “palace of the monks.” Its headquarter, Besisahar, is located 175 km west of Kathmandu.
Lamjung is bordered by Gorkha to the east, Manang to the north, Kaski to the west, and Tanahun to the south.
