UG Scholarships Provisions of TU Institute of Engineering

Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering provides various scholarships to deserving students based on their performance in the entrance exam and subsequent exams.

Scholarships are distributed across different categories to benefit a significant portion of the student body, promoting merit and inclusivity.

General Scholarships Provisions 

1.1 Scholarships for undergraduate students (BE/B.Arch) programs are arranged as follows:

  • (a) 25% of the regular students in each program will receive scholarships based on outstanding results from Tribhuvan University.
  • (b) 20% of the regular students in each program will receive scholarships equivalent to the tuition fee for regular programs.
  • (c) 15% of the regular students in each program will receive scholarships for full-tuition programs equivalent to regular Tribhuvan University tuition.
  • (d) 10% of the regular students in each program will receive free scholarships for full-tuition programs equivalent to regular Tribhuvan University tuition.
  • (e) 25% of the full-tuition students in each program will receive scholarships for full-tuition programs equivalent to regular Tribhuvan University tuition, as mentioned in point 1.1 (c).

The scholarships mentioned in points 1.1 (a), (b), (c), (d), and (e) will be awarded based on the scores of the previous semester exams. For the first year/first semester, the entrance exam scores will be considered.

1.2 Among all full-tuition program students, one student from each enrollment group will receive a scholarship to study at the same fee rate as regular Tribhuvan University students.

1.3 Students benefiting from one type of scholarship or facility will not be eligible for another type of scholarship or facility.

1.4 All the above-mentioned scholarships will not be awarded to students who fail the semester exams.

1.5 All types of scholarships and free study facilities mentioned above will be provided based on the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee.

1.6 A gold medal will be awarded to the student who achieves the highest marks in the undergraduate mechanical engineering program at Pulchowk Campus by the respective department.

Inclusive Underprivileged Reservation Quota

(a) According to Rules 11(a) and 11(b) of the Tribhuvan University Organization and Educational Administration Regulations 2050, twenty percent of the total regular seats are reserved for individuals from the following underprivileged communities:

(b) The twenty percent quota for inclusive admission in BE, B.Arch program will be reserved as follows, assuming it to be 100%:

(c) According to Rules 11(a) and 11(b) of the Tribhuvan University Organization and Educational Administration Regulations 2050, and the Tribhuvan University Admissions Reservation Regulation 2074, the seats reserved for inclusive admissions at the constituent campuses under the Institute of Engineering (IoE) will be as follows: 

Pulchowk Campus

Thapathali Campus and Chitwan Engineering Campus 

Purwanchal Campus

Paschimanchal Campus 

Teacher/Staff Quota

Admissions under this teacher/staff quota will be made in the following order:

  • (a) Two (2) places are reserved in the B.E. / B.Arch level programs at the campuses under the Institute of Engineering (IoE) for the self-improvement of permanently appointed teachers and staff who have completed their probationary period. If no teachers or staff apply, these vacant spots will be filled by the children of permanent teachers and staff (who have completed their probationary period) of the IoE, based on their qualifications.
  • (b) According to the decision of meeting No. 351 of the IoE Academic Council Standing Committee held on 2078/07/15, a total of two (2) regular scholarship seats are reserved at the undergraduate level for the permanently employed teachers and staff of Tribhuvan University (TU) and IoE, as well as for their children. Applicants for these seats will be admitted based on their qualifications.
