The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology invites applications for scholarships in Master's Program in Nuclear Engineering and Management, which are granted by the Government of China. Eligible candidates are requested to submit their applications before the deadline.

TUNEM Application Schedule: October 15, 2022; 10:15 AM to March 01, 2023: 7:15 PM

TUNEM is a 2-year professional degree program with a full scholarship, which is tremendously supported by the National Energy Administration of China and the Ministry of Education of China. Meanwhile, the three major nuclear power groups in China, i.e. China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) and China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), also provide great support. The program aims to cultivate applicants with outstanding academics and global vision in the field of nuclear engineering and management, who are willing to further their studies in China and to make contributions to the cooperation between China and their motherlands.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid passports.
  • Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent degree to a Bachelor's Degree (or above) in China, those with academic background and/or working experience in nuclear engineering, management, or other relevant fields are preferred. In principle, the degree diploma awarded by overseas universities should be authenticated by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, Ministry of Education, P.R.China.
  • Applicants should be in good health and of good character (meet the physical examination requirements stipulated by the country and THU), be well-behaved, and be willing to abide by China's laws, and regulations as well as Tsinghua’s rules.
  • Applicants should have a certain level of English language proficiency and be able to complete a full English program. It is highly recommended to provide the TOEFL or IELTS test report.

Note: The applicant shall carefully check whether he/she meets the application qualification and application requirements (including the application requirements declared by the target school/department/major/program) before applying. The relevant consequences arising from his / her failure to meet the application qualification and application requirements shall be borne by the applicant himself/herself.

How to Apply

Applicants should complete the Online Application on the website of the THU Graduate Programs Application System for International Students (http://gradadmission.tsinghua.edu.cn) during the designated TUNEM application period. Applicants should fill in the application information online, upload the application documents listed below to the online application system, and pay the application fee online at the time of submission (For those who only apply TUNEM, the application fee will be waived, TUNEM administration will pay the application fee for those applicants.)

Personal statement: The Personal Statement should be filled out in accordance with the requirements of the university template; you may click here for template 2023.

Degree certificate and degree authentication: Applicants should submit their Bachelor’s degree certificate. The degree diploma awarded by overseas universities should be authenticated by Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, Ministry of Education, P.R.China (CSCSE). The degree diploma awarded by universities of the Chinese mainland should be authenticated by the Center for Student Services and Development, Ministry of Education, P.R.China (CSSD).

Applicants who will not graduate before the application deadline shall provide the expected graduation certificate first, and the degree diploma and degree authentication must be submitted before registration. (Applicants who have graduated are required to provide the degree authentication at the same time. The authentication and the original degree diploma should be combined into one PDF file and uploaded to the application system.)

Academic transcript: Applicants with Bachelor's degrees should submit the academic transcript of undergraduate study. Applicants with Master's degrees are also required to submit the academic transcript of graduate study. Applicants who will not graduate before the application deadline must provide their current academic transcript. In this case, the completed academic transcript must be submitted before registration.

English language proficiency: For those whose native language is not English, it is recommended to provide a score report of an English language test (e.g. TOEFL/IELTS/others). Those who intend to apply for Chinese Government Scholarships must provide a corresponding score report of an English language test according to the requirements of the scholarship application.

Two Academic Recommendation letters from scholars who have the title of associate 4 professor or higher, or senior professionals in a related academic field, and one of the recommendations from CNNC/SPIC/CGN is preferred. Please follow the instructions on the online system for submission of online recommendation letters or upload the recommendation letters signed by references. (Please fill in the referee’s phone number and email address on the letter).

Passport: Passport information page (Ordinary passport). Individuals who previously held Chinese nationality and subsequently acquired foreign nationality are required to provide either a Certificate of Cancellation of Chinese Household Registration (Hukou) or a Certificate of Renunciation of Chinese Nationality, or a Certificate of Non-Chinese Nationality issued by a Chinese diplomatic mission/consulate.

Identification Photo: (Photo Requirement: JPEG format, white background, clothes with a collar, identification purpose (passport style). Solution Higher than 400*600, width/height must be 3/4. Photo size is smaller than 1MB.)
