Budhanilkantha School, Kathmandu, under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and its partner schools are offering scholarships for deserving children from disadvantaged communities to study residentially from Class 5 onwards, either free of charge or at a subsidized fee.

The following notice is published for the selection of scholarship recipients.

Selection Criteria:

  • Children born between 2071/01/01 and 2072/12/30 (Nepali calendar).
  • Must have regularly studied in community schools in their parents' district of residence or neighboring districts in Classes 3 and 4.
  • Must have completed Class 4 in the academic year 2081.
  • Selection will be based on the merit order of a written competitive examination, with consideration of geographical region and targeted community representation, followed by an interview.

  • Application Form Fee: NPR 100

Application Form:

  • Download the application form from bnks.edu.np, cehrd.gov.np, or moest.gov.np.
  • Complete the form as instructed, obtain necessary recommendations and verifications, and submit it with the required documents to the designated examination center for your district.

Curriculum:

  • Subjects taught in Class 4: Nepali, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies/General Knowledge.
  • Examination format: 40% objective and 60% subjective.

Number of Open and Reserved Seats for Budhanilkantha School:

  • 42 seats (50% for girls)
  • 40 students will be selected, with no more than one student per district, including open and reserved categories.
  • Reserved seats: Endangered - 2, Dalit - 4, Muslim - 1, Madhesi - 4, Janajati - 5, and Backward Region - 2.
  • 2 seats for the local Budhanilkantha municipality, one boy and one girl.
  • 77 students will be selected for partner schools. With the objective of no district being repeated if possible. This will include reserved seats. (Dalit-5, Muslim-2, Madhesi-6, Janajati-9, families of martyrs and conflict victims and families who have lost family members in foreign employment-1, with a minimum of 26 girls.)

Application Fee:

  • Rs. 100/- (One Hundred Rupees Only).

Documents to be Submitted with the Application

(1) The following documents must be submitted with the prescribed application form:

  • a) Completed application form verified by the relevant headmaster and local level education head.
  • (b) Recommendation letter from the local level indicating the family's monthly income.
  • (c) Student's birth registration certificate issued by the local registrar.
  • (d) Letter from the local level confirming the relationship between the parent/guardian and the student.
  • (e) Copy of the parent/guardian's Nepali citizenship certificate.
  • Clarification: Parent/guardian includes grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, elder brother, or elder sister.
  • (f) Verified details of the student's previous two academic years from the relevant schools, including class, school code, and student ID, updated in IEMIS.
  • (g) Recommendation letter from the following authorities for candidates applying under reserved categories:
    • Janajati: National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities or relevant District Administration Office.
    • Dalit: National Dalit Commission or relevant District Administration Office.
    • Madhesi: Madhesi Commission or relevant District Administration Office.
    • Muslim: Muslim Commission or relevant District Administration Office.
    • Families of disappeared persons or martyrs, and the injured or their children: Ministry of Home Affairs or relevant District Administration Office.
    • Students from backward remote areas: Confirmation from the relevant local level of permanent residence and study in community schools in Classes 3 and 4.

(2) On the designated examination day, parents/guardians must submit the application form and required documents to the examination conducting team at the designated examination center.

Important Notes for Filling the Application Form:

  •  Incomplete forms will be automatically rejected.
  • Examinations cannot be taken in centers other than the designated centers for each district. District refers to the district where the student's Class 4 community school is located.
  • If one child of a parent/guardian is already studying at Budhanilkantha School, their other child will not be eligible for a scholarship at Budhanilkantha School.
  • Children of parents/guardians with a monthly income of Rs. 50,000/- (Fifty Thousand) or more, or children of Nepal Government Undersecretaries or equivalent and higher-ranking employees, are not eligible to participate in the scholarship selection examination.
