Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS), in collaboration with the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the Consortium of Public Health Institutions in Nepal (CAIPHEN), invites applications from motivated Master’s level students from any health science background to conduct Implementation Research (IR) as part of their Master’s thesis.
The main objective of this initiative is to strengthen students’ capacity in implementation research to address key public health and health system challenges in Nepal. The selected research projects should be directly embedded within Nepal’s health system to tackle real implementation issues. Selected students will receive hands-on experience through structured mentoring, practical research implementation, and collaboration with academic faculty and government officials.
Scope of Work
Selected students will actively participate in the design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of a research project aligned with implementation science. The research must fulfill the requirements of their Master’s thesis and be completed within one year. A final thesis report must be submitted at the end. Research activities will be carried out at the student’s regular academic institution and/or assigned field sites.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Public Health at any recognized institution in Nepal
- Be eligible to undertake a thesis-based research project
- Demonstrate a clear interest in implementation science and health systems research

- A cover letter describing their interest in implementation research and its relevance to their Master’s thesis
- A brief concept note outlining the proposed implementation research topic aligned with local health needs (maximum 2–3 pages)
