Grants, Support and scholarships from University Grants Commission (UGC) Nepal

If you want to know about the support, grants, or scholarships the University Grant Commission of Nepal provides to colleges, Universities, faculty (Professors/Lecturers), or even students, we have brought the main highlights of the UGC program that is developed to support campuses, faculties, and students.

UGC announces applications for the following fellowships, grants/supports and scholarships every year.

Fellowships

M Phil Fellowship

The M.Phil. fellowship program of UGC, Nepal, supports the qualified faculty members of Nepal's HEIs and young students seeking to pursue MPhil degrees. The faculty members/young students enrolled in
the MPhil / Ph.D. integrated program for MPhil degrees are eligible for this fellowship.

PhD Fellowship

PhD Fellowship supports qualified junior faculty members and young students pursuing Ph.D. degrees in universities in Nepal or recognized foreign universities with a monthly stipend to cover educational expenses. Faculty members/young students enrolled in an MPhil program leading to a Ph.D. degree are eligible to apply for the Ph.D. Fellowship program.

Postdoctoral Fellowship

Recognizing the importance of postdoctoral fellowships in fostering a research culture within universities, UGC is also offering postdoctoral fellowships. Initially, these fellowships will support technical and laboratory-based research projects funded by the UGC Collaborative Research Grant, with the potential to extend support to other HEI research projects funded by different sources.

Thesis Research Grants

Thesis Support for Persons with Disabilities

Masters and MPhil students with disabilities (all classes) can apply to the UGC for support anytime after their institution accepts their thesis proposals and within six months of thesis approval. Students with 'A' and 'B' class disabilities are eligible for additional funding to support assistance.

Partial Support for the PhD fellowship

A Ph.D. fellow enrolled in universities in Nepal or a recognized foreign university (Public university, accredited institutions, and ranked universities) who has not received Fellowship and Research Support from any other sources can apply for this support within a specified time during their Ph.D. program. An application can be submitted to the UGC anytime throughout the year.
