Kathmandu Metropolitan City Announces Scholarship for Grade 1 to 10

The Education Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has announced a call for scholarship applications for students from Grade 1 to Grade 10 studying in institutional schools within the metropolis.

Issuing a notice today, KMC directed the schools to distribute scholarships to students from marginalized groups, including those from poor, disabled, women, dalit, indigenous, conflict-affected, and martyr families, by the first week of Jestha. 

As per the Education Act 2075 and Education Regulation 2075 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, private schools are required to allocate scholarships to students equivalent to at least ten percent of the total enrollment. 

Schools operating under KMC’s jurisdiction are required to form a scholarship selection committee and recommend students for scholarships based on guidelines provided. The schools are instructed to fill in the required details on the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s data portal at: http://datacollection.kathmandu.gov.np using their designated User ID and password.

The selection and confirmation of the scholarship awardees should be decided by the scholarship committee including following individuals or their designated representatives for the scholarship distribution:

  1. Ward Chairperson or a designated Ward member - Coordinator
  2. Principal of the concerned school - Member
  3. Representative from the Metropolitan City Education Department or a designated education officer - Member Secretary
  4. A representative of the guardians from the concerned school - Member
