General Scholarship Scheme for 2016-17 session

for Under- Graduate Courses

Notice

Embassy of India, Kathmandu invites applications on prescribed form from Nepalese nationals desirous of pursuing under-graduate courses i:e BBA, BCA, BA, BA(Hons), B.Com, BA (Music/Performing Arts) under General Scholarship Scheme and B.Sc (Hospitality & Hotel Management) under SAARC Scholarship Scheme in Indian Universities for the academic year 2016-17.

2. Eligibility:

(i)Applicants must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with compatible subject in class 12 and have secured minimum of 60% marks in aggregate as well as in English.

(ii) Applicants should be between 17 to 22 years as on 1st July, 2017.

(iii) For Music: Photographs of performances, audio/video cassettes/CD’s must be attached with the application.

(iv) For Fine Arts: Photographs of arts / sculpture must be attached with the application.

2. Selection Process:

(i) Short-listed candidates of Bachelor course (GSS, BALLB and B.Sc in Hospitality & Hotel Management) only will be called for interview through individual’s Email, which will be conducted at Education Wing of EOI, Kathmandu, CGI Birganj and Camp Office Biratnagar. Candidates should indicate their address and contact telephone numbers /e-mail address clearly in the prescribed column of the application form. Any change in Email and telephone number will not be accepted at later stage and all future communications will be done through Email of candidate mentioned in application form only.

(ii) Selection will be based on the applicant’s academic record and performance in the interview. However, nomination of a candidate by the Embassy does not guarantee admission to any Indian college/university for the above courses. Confirmation of admission by the Embassy will be given only after receipt of the same from the concerned Indian University. Request for change of college/ institution or transfer of scholarship upon taking admission will not be entertained. Those candidates who wish to apply to this Embassy for placement in any institution in India will have no right to reject/ withdraw at a later stage, failing which they will be debarred for future scholarships and would also be required to refund the entire amount spent by the Govt. of India.

(iii) Submission of incorrect information or incomplete application forms by the candidate may result in forfeiture of the scholarship at any stage and no review will be considered.

(iv) Candidates should submit their application forms either in the drop box placed at Main gate (Lainchour gate) of Embassy of India, Kathmandu or CGI Birganj or Camp Office Biratnagar on all working days between 09.30 hrs to 12.30 hrs only w.e.f Dec 15, 2016 to Jan 10, 2017.

(v) Due care should be taken while exercising options for the courses and University/Institution. The list of Universities/Institutions can be viewed at ICCR website http://iccr.gov.in/content/general-scholarships-gc.... No request to change the course/institute will be entertained after submitting the application. Candidates are advised to fill up only one application form for one course and must pay application fee for each form. Embassy reserves the right to change the course/ option of University/Institution of a candidate depending on the seats availability in particular course of University/Institution.

3. Instructions for filling up of the form:

(i) Separate application forms are available for various courses. The same may be downloaded from the Indian Embassy website www.indianembassy.org.np and filled in, preferably typed. All applicants must attach following documents (Photo copies duly attested by notary not the originals) with the application form in same order as given below-

(a) Passport size photograph, pasted in application form, duly attested by the notary.

(b) Mark sheets of class XII/Graduation/Post Graduation etc depending upon the course applied for.

(c) Citizenship Certificate and its translation done by notary.

(d) Original Bank Voucher of application fee of NRs.400/- deposited in the bank by the candidate.

(e) Screen shot (first page) of mailed copy sent in sjssngss@gmail.com in pdf format (eg. Name_course) like amit_KC_bba or Amit_mba etc.

For Post-graduate courses- Candidate must attach copy of syllabus of graduation in addition to the above mentioned documents.

For Ph.D – Candidate must fill up an additional form for approval of research project alongwith the submission of other documents stated above and synopsis of proposed research work. Originals need not be attached at this stage.

(ii) Candidates belonging to Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Dhanusa, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Makwanpur and Chitwan districts should submit their applications to Consulate General of India, Shreepur, Birgunj.

(iii) Similarly candidates of Siraha, Udaypur, Saptari, Sunsari, Morang, Dhankuta, Jhapa and Illam should submit their forms at Embassy of India, Camp Office, Biratnagar.

(iv) Candidates belonging to rest of Nepal should submit their application forms to Embassy of India, Kathmandu.

(v) One set of scanned application forms should be submitted through our email (www.sjssngcs@gmail.com) in a single PDF format followed by one hard copy of each application alongwith all educational documents and screen shot of mailed copy (Scanned) personally either in the Drop Box placed at Main Gate (Lainchour Gate) of Embassy of India, P.O Box 292, Kapurdhara Marg, Kathmandu or CGI Birganj or Camp Office Biratnagar. The application fee of NRs.400/- should be deposited in favor of Education Wing, EOI, Kathmandu Account No. 17725240200331 of Nepal SBI Bank, anywhere in Nepal not later than January 10, 2017. Application fee once deposited will not be refunded or adjusted.
