Call for Proposal
For conducting COVID 19 based Collaborative research
Purpose
University Grants Commission (UGC) invites proposals from the Nepali Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to conduct COVID 19 based collaborative researches. This new funding opportunity will be provided to HEIs for research aimed directly at combating the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the resulting COVID-19 disease, but also for research into the societal and economic effects of the pandemic. The HEIs should aim to cooperate with the international researchers.
The research proposals must be within the set thematic areas enlisted below;
- Major biological and medical aspects of a SAR-CoV-2
- Socio-economic and cultural implications
- Impact on Health
- Impact on Higher Education
- Innovative and Therapeutic values
- Development of Diagnostic kits
- Development and possible application of Tracking Technology
- Manufacturing and Supply Chains
Proposals with combination of one or more of the above thematic area are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
Institute/ Research Centers/ Schools/ Central Departments of Nepali Universities.
Application Procedure
HEIs should submit application via online to the UGC Secretariat by 4:00 pm on Jestha 25, 2077. Application should be endorsed from the VC office.
Selection process
The proposal shall be evaluated by a team of experts. Preference shall be given to interdisciplinary and collaborative research proposal. Maximum of three proposals shall be awarded based on competition.

- Relevance and potential impact of the research on control, management and prediction of COVID19 pandemic
- Scientific excellence
- Timeframe for the outcomes
- Feasibility of the study
- Technical expertise of the Principal Investigator and team
Announcement of Result
The final evaluation result shall be published in the UGC website. The research project must start as early as possible.
Funding availability
Total budget fund available for the research is Thirty Millions Nepali Rupees (NRS 30,000,000). Funding is subjected to budgetary availability and funding conditions stipulated by UGC.
