Softwarica College of IT & E-Commerce, in partnership with the Institute of Analytics (IoA), successfully hosted a 10-hour intensive hackathon titled “Data for Good Nepal: Analytics for Society.” The event served as a professional hub for aspiring data scientists and AI innovators, challenging them to leverage advanced analytics and AI to address critical societal challenges in Nepal. By focusing on technology-driven social change, the competition encouraged participants to translate academic knowledge into practical, high-impact solutions.

A notable highlight of the proceedings was the participation of Ms. Olga Sara, Global Commercial Director of the Institute of Analytics. Addressing the attendees, she offered a global perspective on the transformative impact of data analytics on modern industries and economies. During the ceremony, Ms. Sara also presented a USD 60 cash prize to Prajwol Khadka and Apala Lamichhane from Batch 35 Computing, honoring their exceptional performance in the Autumn 2025 Student Sprint in Analytics Task Challenge.

In the main competition, the first prize and a cash award of NPR 100,000 were presented to the developers of "Sahachari," an intelligent legal companion designed to support survivors of domestic violence. The winning team, comprising Prajwol Khadka, Garima Shrestha, Apala Lamichhane (Batch 35 Computing), and Sara Singh Dangol (Batch 35 Ethical Hacking), was recognized for creating an AI-powered tool with the potential to significantly improve access to justice across Nepal.

The second prize, along with NPR 60,000, was awarded to "FinShield," a cybersecurity solution developed by Team Tux to enhance digital financial protection. The team included Darshana Sharma, Sujata Sapkota, Mandip Lal Joshi, and Kalsang Lama from Batch 37 Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity. Additionally, "SafeTrip," a travel intelligence platform created by Ishan Bashyal, Manoj Bhatta, Aayush Kumar Bohora, and Aakirti Bastola from Batch 37 Computer Science with AI, secured the third prize and NPR 40,000.

Softwarica College remains committed to fostering innovation that balances technical excellence with societal welfare. By providing students with opportunities to address real-world challenges, the institution continues to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial application, empowering the next generation of technology leaders to build a more secure and equitable future for the nation.
