The first KMC-TU BCA Futsal Tournament 2081, organized by Kathmandu Model College (KMC) at Dhuku Sports Hub, Baluwatar, concluded with Nepalaya College emerging as champions. In a thrilling final, Nepalaya defeated Madan Bhandari Memorial College 3-2 to secure the title. As part of their victory, Nepalaya College has also been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the next edition of the tournament.
The champions were awarded a cash prize of NPR 70,000, along with a trophy, medals, and certificates. The runner-up, Madan Bhandari Memorial College, received NPR 30,000, a trophy, medals, and certificates. The two-day tournament featured participation from approximately 24 colleges offering BCA programs.
Quarter-final matches saw strong performances from teams like Janamaitri Multiple Campus, Samriddhi College, Nepal Mega College, Southwestern State College, Bernhardt College, and Orchid International College. The semi-finals featured intense battles, with Nepalaya College and Madan Bhandari Memorial College advancing to the final after defeating Orchid International College and Janamaitri Multiple Campus, respectively.
The final match was a showcase of skill and determination, with both teams displaying exceptional performance. Nepalaya College secured the championship with a 3-2 victory, thanks to their teamwork and strategic play.
Individual accolades were also awarded, with Pratik Humagain from Madan Bhandari Memorial College named the Most Valuable Player, Sunil Khadka from Nepalaya College recognized as the Best Goalkeeper, and Sakar Thapa from Nepalaya College as the Best Striker. The Fair Play award went to Orchid International College.
The tournament was backed by various sponsors, including IME Life Insurance as the major sponsor and insurance partner. Vertigo BBQ, Mello Chocolate, Kumari Tours & Travels, Innovate Travel Nepal, and Model Institute of Technology also provided crucial support.
During the closing ceremony, Mr. Surendra Subedi, Principal of Kathmandu Model College, highlighted that the primary goal of the tournament was to foster cooperation and mutual understanding among colleges offering BCA programs. He expressed satisfaction that this objective had been achieved and commended the efforts of the KMC Sports Club and KMC Media Reachout Club for their dedication to the event’s success.
The event was chaired by Mr. Subedi and attended by key figures from the college, including Mr. Dhurba Prasad Timalsina, IQAC head, Mr. Deep Kumar Baral, head of the MBS program and extracurricular activities, Mr. Sagar Kharel, head of BBA and BBM programs, Mr. Binod Paudel, head of BCA program, and Mr. Dilip Bhattarai, head of Global Affairs and Innovation. Various teachers from other colleges also participated in the event.
