Kathmandu Model Secondary School, a beacon of educational excellence in Nepal since its establishment in 2000, celebrated its 25th anniversary with a grand Silver Jubilee celebration. The school, known for its significant contributions to national development through education, marked this milestone with a spectacular inaugural event.

Silver Jubilee Celebrations Kick Off with Mini-Marathon

On Saturday, 29th Mangsir, the school hosted a grand inauguration ceremony to kick off the year-long Silver Jubilee celebrations. The event featured a 6.3 km mini-marathon competition that drew over 3,500 enthusiastic participants from the school community. The marathon, which aimed to promote fitness and community engagement, took participants through a scenic route that included key areas such as Baghbazar, Kamaladi, Kamalpokhari, Gyaneshwor, Gaushala Chowk, Baneshwor, Seto Pool, Maitidevi, and Dillibazar, before returning to Baghbazar.

The mini-marathon was held under the patronage of renowned national marathon runner Baikuntha Manandhar. It was meticulously organized, with volunteers, teachers, and staff managing various checkpoints along the route.

The race saw intense competition across both male and female categories. Abhishek Magar emerged as the first-place winner in the male category, followed by Sadip Thapaliya in second and Nirajan Pradhan in third. Among the females, Nikita Khadak claimed first place, Kristina Katila finished second, and Nirmala BK secured third place.

Principal Announces Year-long Silver Jubilee Program

Following the marathon, a formal ceremony was held at the school campus to mark the official opening of the Silver Jubilee. The event was chaired by Ramishwar Aryal, Chairman of the School Management Committee. It featured speeches from key dignitaries, including Dr. Nagendra Bahadur Aryal, the school’s Principal and Silver Jubilee Organizing Committee Chairperson.

Dr. Aryal announced an exciting lineup of special programs to be conducted throughout the year. These include publishing a commemorative Silver Jubilee magazine, honoring schools that have significantly contributed to education across Nepal, and organizing outreach programs to recognize students in medical and engineering colleges. Additionally, 25 special scholarships will be awarded to students in 2025 under the KMC Silver Jubilee Scholarship Program.

Health Camps and Community Outreach Planned

In collaboration with Almasein and other educational associations, the school plans to organize health camps, student interaction programs, and other events to engage with the wider community. These initiatives will continue throughout the year as part of the school’s commitment to social responsibility and community development.

Message of National Development and Youth Empowerment

During the event, marathon runner Baikuntha Manandhar shared an inspiring message about staying committed to national development. He highlighted the negative impact of youth migration and urged the younger generation to invest in Nepal's future rather than seeking opportunities abroad. Manandhar emphasized that while he had opportunities to live in countries like the USA, his love for Nepal brought him back, and he called on today’s youth to follow suit and contribute to the nation’s growth.

Acknowledgements and Gratitude

Ramishwar Aryal, Chairman of the School Management Committee, also expressed his gratitude for the school's support over the past 25 years. He credited education as the foundation for national development and prosperity and thanked students, parents, teachers, staff, and well-wishers for their continued support.

DD Adhikari, the Examination Coordinator, coordinated the event, which was attended by members of the School Management and Executive Committee, teachers, staff, students, and representatives from various associations. The school's 25-year journey was celebrated with great pride.
