Exam System at TU Institute of Engineering

Tribhuvan University has outlined the examination system for students studying under Institute of Engineering at Tribhuvan University. It includes guidelines for internal assessments, final examinations, and section-wise enrollment restrictions. 

Internal Assessment

  1. According to the regulations of Tribhuvan University, students must have a minimum attendance of 70%.
  2. Students must pass the internal assessment of each subject. If they fail the internal assessment, they will not be allowed to sit for the mid-term exam of that subject.
  3. If the curriculum of any subject is revised, those retaking the exam must do so based on the revised curriculum.

Final Examination

  1. All levels of examinations conducted under this institute will be managed by the Examination Control Division of the Institute of Engineering Studies. The exams will be conducted according to the academic calendar prepared by the Institute of Engineering Studies.
  2. Students must complete the 4-year BE program within 8 academic years and the 5-year B.Arch program within 10 academic years. There will be no provision for retaking exams for those who do not pass within this period.
  3. Students who pass all subjects at the undergraduate level in various engineering programs will be awarded the title of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.). Those who complete undergraduate studies in the architecture program will be awarded the title of Bachelor of Architecture.

Section-wise Enrollment Restrictions

  1. Students who have not filled out the examination form for the regular mid-term examination of any year and section will not be allowed to attend classes for the higher year and section.
  2. After giving the exam for any year and section, students must enroll in the next year and section for further studies. Students who do not fill out the examination form will not be admitted to the higher level.
