Embark College Launches  Research Book  on Sustainability and Economic Inclusion

Embark Research Network of Embark College launched the book titled 'Embark Research Review: Sustainability and Financial Inclusion: Towards a Sustainable Nepal' at a function on Baisakh 14, 2025 (April 27, 2025).

The publication features eleven case studies based on businesses active in Nepal and aims to strengthen collaboration among the Government of Nepal, provincial governments, private sectors, and academia on economic inclusion and sustainability issues.

The chief guest, Professor Dr. Jean-Noël Ezingeard, Vice Chancellor of the University of Roehampton, officially unveiled the book during the event. Mr. Asish Thakur, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Embark College, chaired the program.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Thakur highlighted Embark College’s commitment to building a sustainable Nepal through education and research, and emphasized the significance of the new policies and programs brought about by the international collaboration with the University of Roehampton.

The chief guest, Professor Dr. Jean-Noël Ezingeard, stressed the importance of international partnerships in research and policymaking. He stated, “Only through the collective efforts of universities can we effectively address the challenges of financial inclusion and sustainability.”

During the panel discussion session on sustainability and financial inclusion, senior economist Professor Dr. Bishwambhar Pyakurel and Dr. Sanjib Subba, Founder of Kathmandu FinteK, discussed necessary policy reforms to expand financial access and ensure sustainability through digital technology and innovation. The session was moderated by Dr. Stephen Driver, Principal of Embark College.

At the closing of the program, Principal Dr. Stephen Driver emphasized that sustainable solutions are only possible through collaboration among education, research, and policymaking, urging everyone to work together for economic inclusion and stability.

Researchers who authored the eleven outstanding case studies included in the book, based on businesses active in Nepal, were also awarded certificates during the event.

Embark College offers BSc. in Business Management and MBA programs in collaboration with the University of Roehampton, with approval from Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. The college continues to integrate research and policy development experiences into its academic offerings to contribute toward sustainable economic development.
