The bearing test (वियरिङ्ग परीक्षा) also referred to as "Wearing Check" evaluates the physical characteristics of candidates to determine their suitability for military service. Here are the details of what is examined:
(1) Point No. 1: The body parts should be normal.
- There should be no absence of normal human body parts, nor should there be any additional body parts.
- The arms and legs should not be of uneven length.
- There should be no cleft (खुँडे) lip.
- There should be no hunchback.
- One should be able to fully bend their body.
- The body should not be crooked.
(2) Point No. 2: There should be no unusual scars (अस्वभाविक दागहरू) on the body :
- There should be no abnormal blemishes on the face due to disease or injury.
- There should be no abnormal birthmarks, scars, or blemishes on the face and head that significantly disfigure the appearance. However, those with minor birthmarks, scars, and blemishes can be accepted. In the case of large scars caused by disease, surgery, or injury, if verified by a medical officer that they do not affect functional capacity, they can be accepted.
- There should be no self-inflicted scars (letters, names, or marks).
- There should be no tattoo marks on any part of the body. However, if the tattoo has been removed and the resulting mark is natural, it can be accepted.
(3) Point No. 3: The arms and legs should not be crooked or deformed, the fingers should be normal, and there should not be severe flat feet.:
- The arms and legs should not be crooked or deformed (when the palms are turned upwards and straightened, the angle of the arm at the elbow should not exceed 5-10 degrees for men and 5-15 degrees for women).
- The fingers of the hands and feet should not be joined or bent.
- The fingers of the hands and feet should not be abnormally spaced apart and unable to join.
- Flat Foot: There should not be severe flat feet.
(4) Point No. 4: Condition of the knees:
- Knock Knees: Knees should not be touched when standing in the attention position.
- Bow Legs: When standing with feet together, the gap between the knees should not exceed 8 centimeters.
(5) Point No. 5: No warts on the body
- There should not be a large number of warts scattered over any part of the body.
Note: (During the wearing check, if a candidate is found to have warts, they will be informed that if they undergo treatment and return by the time of the detailed medical check-up, they may be considered fit depending on the nature of the warts.)
(6) Point No. 6: Teeth should not be missing:
- If teeth are missing, fixed teeth should be used; however, if wisdom teeth are missing, it is acceptable.
- If teeth have undergone RCT (Root Canal Treatment), a cap should be placed.
- Front teeth should not protrude and be visible when both lips are closed.
- If teeth are decayed, they should be filled.
- Front teeth should not be spaced more than 2 mm apart.
(7) Point No. 7: No vitiligo दुवी (leukoderma) :
- There should not be contagious vitiligo (leukoderma).
- There should not be unusually noticeable vitiligo on the body.
Note: If the candidate has Pityriasis Versicolor, which is a non-contagious form of vitiligo, it should be noted in the remarks section that the candidate has non-contagious vitiligo. The candidate will be informed that if they undergo treatment and return by the time of the detailed medical check-up, they may be considered fit depending on the condition, and such vitiligo can be accepted.
(8) Point No. 8: No hair loss / no gray hair
- There should not be excessive hair loss due to any disease.
- There should not be excessive gray hair.
(9) Point No. 9: Eyes should not be cross-eyed and should be able to close properly:
- Candidates with crossed eyes (डेढो आँखा) are not eligible.
- Both eyes should be similar in size.
- For right-handed individuals, the left eye should be able to close, and for left-handed individuals, the right eye should be able to close.
(10)Point No. 10: Clear speech, not stammering or lisping
- Speech should be clear, not stammering, lisping, or babbling.
Note: The physical structure of candidates should not affect their military capability.
