About Society of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Students

The Society of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Students (SOMAES), formerly the Society of Mechanical Engineering Students (SOMES), is the official student body associated with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Pulchowk Campus. Since its establishment in 2007 AD, SOMAES has been dedicated to nurturing the innovative, managerial, instructional, and craftsmanship skills within every student. This is achieved through the organization and participation in various events, training, workshops, and seminars. SOMAES is a vital link between students, the department administration, and alums.

One notable project initiated by SOMAES is the SOMAES Hub, explicitly designed to provide reading resources to mechanical students enrolled under the Institute of Engineering (IOE). The SOMAES Hub is a comprehensive collection of necessary materials, making it convenient for students to access the required resources.

An annual highlight of SOMAES is the MechTRIX Expo, which features an event focused on showcasing the innovative projects and demonstrations created by undergraduate students pursuing their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degrees. This event serves as a platform for students to display their practical knowledge and skills to a broader audience.

Overall, SOMAES plays a crucial role in fostering the growth and development of mechanical and aerospace engineering students at Pulchowk Campus, actively engaging them in educational and practical activities while fostering strong connections with the department and alumni network.
