About Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal

In the year 1993 AD, the Nepalese government issued its first ever Civil Aviation Policy. The Department of Civil Aviation was to be transformed into an autonomous Civil Aviation Authority under this strategy. As a result, on December 31, 1998, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) was created as an autonomous regulatory agency under the Civil Aviation Act, 1996. CAAN is both a civil aviation regulator and a service provider in the fields of air navigation and aerodrome operations.
