The winners of Living ICT's My Second Teacher 'My Digital Nepal, My Vision' competition have been announced. The victors were presented with their prizes during a special ceremony hosted at the Soaltee Hotel on Friday.
Neha Giri, a St. Xavier's College class 12 student, won first place in the competition. She was awarded one lakh rupees for the finest writing in the 'My Digital Nepal, My Imagination' essay competition.
Prashna Subedi, a student in grade 10 at Banglamukhi Radhakrishna Tharu Higher Secondary School, Guleriya-6, Bardiya, and Rythm Bhetwal, a student at Ratna Rajya Secondary School, Baneshwor, tied for second place. They were each awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
Asim Dangol, a student at Mankamana Secondary School in Birtamod, Jhapa, Anish Shrestha, a student at Tri-Padma Vidyashram Secondary School in Pulchowk, Lalitpur, Uddhav Thakur, a student at Budhanilkantha School in Kathmandu, and Bishestha Chaudhary, a student at Brihaspati Vidyasadan, all placed third in the competition. Each of the third-place finishers received a monetary prize of Rs. 25,000.
In the competition, a group of students created a framework called "Digital and Prosperous Nepal." The Evaluation Panel gave Prashanna Kumar Regmi, Shashank Neupane, Arya Prasai, and Amim Singh of Kathmandu Model Secondary School the Special Mention Award for their contributions to the framework.
Furthermore, the winner will receive some tempting incentives from the sponsoring companies. All of the winners received a one-year internet subscription from Dish Home, and top sponsor 'My Second Teacher' provided gift hampers to all of the winners.
For the very first time in Nepal, the younger generation was invited to participate in the competition titled 'My Digital Nepal, My Vision' with the objective of making the younger generation aware about information and communication technology.
In the competition, more than 350 thoughts and ideas were received through essays, poems, articles, pictures, speeches, video presentations etc.
The winners were announced by Tara Devi Bhatt, Member of the National Assembly and Chairperson of the Committee on Sustainable Development and Good Governance, Mahendra Man Gurung, Chief Information Commissioner; Baikuntha Aryal, Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Science Technology; Suresh Acharya and former Minister Ganesh Shah and some other valuable guests.
The students' winning works will be published in Living with ICT Magazine and ictsamachar.com, respectively.
