Tribhuvan University made a momentous decision during its meeting on Ashad 12, 2080. The university's board, chaired by Chancellor and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) and Minister of Education Ashok Kumar Rai, has significantly revised the rules governing teachers and staff services.
As per the updated regulations, faculty and staff members working in temporary or contractual positions for ten years will now have the opportunity to compete internally for permanent positions. This decision was reached during the University's assembly session. After the amendment, teachers and employees previously under contract before 2070 BS can participate in internal competitions.
In light of this modification, the University administration has also decided to extend a similar opportunity to non-teaching employees, per the proposal by the Vice-Chancellor, Dharma Kant Banskota. However, it is worth noting that the University Service Commission will not conduct internal competitions for teachers who have not completed one year of service.
