TU Institute of Engineering Postpones Admission Schedules Amidst Protest Over Fee Adjustments

Tribhuvan University's Institute of Engineering has recently responded to the concerns raised by various stakeholders following the adjustment in the admission fee structure.

As a result of the discussions and divergent opinions voiced by concerned parties, the published admission schedules have been postponed until further notice. The university administration encourages interested parties and concerned associations/organizations to actively engage in dialogues and negotiations. The objective is to arrive at suitable solutions that will ensure the institution's financial stability and uphold its longstanding tradition of excellence in education.

The university's administration acknowledges the mounting challenges resulting from a combination of factors, including diminishing government development funding, an inadequate ratio of teaching staff to the growing student population, escalating teaching staff salaries, rising market prices, and inflation. These circumstances have led to the inability of the campuses to cover their current expenditures adequately.

Similarly, in response to the evolving educational landscape, the university has introduced several new initiatives this year. These include the implementation of a mandatory internship system within the curriculum, the enhancement of existing facilities coupled with student scholarships, the construction and modernization of physical infrastructure and laboratories, and financial support for students engaged in research endeavors. These changes are aimed at providing students with a comprehensive and enriching academic experience. This move comes after a significant period of 26 years without any substantial changes to the fee arrangement, with the exception of a general modification during the launch of the full-fee program in 2054 BS.

The Institute of Engineering's illustrious history and contribution to the education sector highlight the collective responsibility to safeguard the institution from potential financial challenges. It is essential for all stakeholders to work together and contribute to maintaining a thriving educational environment for the benefit of both current and future generations.
