Two years after the Supreme Court order, Tribhuvan University has finally decided to allow students to see their answer sheets after the publication of their exam results.
The meeting of the Executive Council of the University led by Chairman of the Interim Election Government Khil Raj Regmi on Monday amended its regulation as per the apex court order paving the way for students to see their answer sheets if they are not satisfied with their marks.
Making a landmark decision on the issue of right to information earlier, a division bench of Balaram KC and Abadhesh Kumar Yadav had decided to scrap the writ petition filed by TU against the order of the National Information Commission (NIC) that directed the university to let students see their answer sheets.
The verdict was made on the basis of the provisions of Article 27 of Interim Constitution 2007 and Right to Information Act 2007.
Now onwards, students who are not satisfied with their examination marks can see attested copies of their answer sheets after paying certain fee. Bijay Aryal, a Bachelor’s level student of Shanker Dev Campus, on June 30, 2009 had filed an application at the university demanding to see his answer sheets of Business Statistics and English.
However, the university reportedly denied acting as per his demand saying it was a secret issue.
After the denial, Aryal again filed a case in the NIC claiming that TU violated his right to information.
