Tribhuvan University Launches Intensive Training Program for Nurses

Tribhuvan University's Coordination Division has rolled out an intensive 8-day training program tailored for active staff nurses to improve the quality of healthcare services and bolster the professional skills of nursing staff. The program, which commenced on February 20, 2024, and is set to conclude on February 28, 2024, is being held at the Suresh Wagle Memorial Cancer Center within the TU Teaching Hospital premises.

Welcoming 40 permanent staff nurses from various health centers, including the Teaching Hospital Maharajganj, the Manmohan Cardiothoracic and Vascular Center, and the B.P. Koirala Lions Centre for Ophthalmic Studies (BPKLCOS), the initiative aims to introduce innovative practices and knowledge in the nursing field.

During the inauguration, Prof. Bhargava Dhital, Acting Dean of Tribhuvan University, emphasized the critical role of nurses in healthcare, stressing the importance of high moral standards and honesty in their duties. Dr. Krishna Prasad Basyal, Acting Registrar of Tribhuvan University, underscored the significance of in-service training for nursing staff and called for policy reforms to support their career growth. Prof. Dr. Premraj Gyawali from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) expressed concerns about the emigration of medical professionals, highlighting the need for professional security to retain talent within the country.

Participants are encouraged to apply the insights gained from the training to their daily work, adapting to the evolving demands of the medical field. The program features discussions on challenges and solutions in nursing service and hospital management, with a focus on promoting professional development and enhancing skills to improve healthcare services.

This training session reflects Tribhuvan University's commitment to investing in the professional growth of its nursing staff, aiming to mitigate the brain drain in the medical sector and elevate the standard of healthcare services.
