The Times World University Rankings 2022 have been released. The University of Oxford in the United Kingdom has topped the overall rankings, with California Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and Stanford University coming in second, third, and fourth, respectively.

Nepal still ranks at 801-1000 worldwide with Tribhuvan University making the list while even though submitted for ranking, Kathmandu University did not qualify. Despite the fact that the overall ranking is identical to that of the last year, Tribhuvan University has jumped to 486 in the citation ranking.

While Tribhuvan University has now been in the ranking for four consecutive years, it is for the first time that Kathmandu University has made the list.

In the year 2019, Tribhuvan University entered the ranking at 801-1000 position, and again in the year 2020, the ranking fell to 1000+. Last year's ranking showed that the University has moved up at 801-1000 position. Tribhuvan University is the only university from Nepal to make it to the list up until now.

The Indian University of Science (IISc), Bengaluru is the sole Indian university in the top 301-350 among South Asian universities, followed by Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar in the 350-400 range. The University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka is the country's highest-ranked university, with a ranking of 401-500. It is folled by Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan which is listed among the top 501-600. University of Dhaka, on the other hand, is ranked in the same range as Tribhuvan University; 801-1000.

With 183 institutions, the United States is the most represented country overall, as well as the most represented in the top 200 with 57, despite the fact that its proportion of universities in this exclusive group is declining.
