Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality in Saptari, a region prone to frequent flooding, has announced plans to implement Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) education in its schools. This initiative will be integrated as part of the local curriculum for students up to Grade 8 in both community and institutional schools.

Rural Municipality Chairman Arun Kumar Mandal revealed this during the 12th rural assembly while presenting the municipality's budget, policies, and programs for the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26). He confirmed that the budget would ensure the implementation of DRR education.

The proposed plans also include the installation of lightning protection systems in community schools, formulation of school safety strategies, and the introduction of DRR-focused programs for citizens returning from foreign employment. The budget also prioritizes agriculture, education, health, and disaster management. A youth mobilization campaign aimed at addressing climate change and disaster awareness will also be launched.
