TU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Deepak Aryal has tendered his resignation from the post, effective from April 30, 2026. KC resigned along with two other key officials of TU- Rector Prof Dr Khadga KC, and Registrar Prof Dr Kedar Prasad Rijal on 30th April, 2026.
Aryal was appointed to the position by then-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for a four-year term on July 9, 2025, but stepped down after serving for approximately nine months and 24 days. Similarly, Prof Dr KC, the Rector, and Prof Dr Rijal, the Registrar, were appointed to the post on April 12, 2024.
In his resignation letter, Aryal stated that his decision was made to facilitate administrative convenience for the Government of Nepal and the university’s Chancellor, in line with the provisions of the Tribhuvan University Act, 2049.
Aryal also acknowledged that public offices are not permanent and emphasized that his resignation reflects the evolving situation in the country’s higher education governance. His exit comes as the government has introduced ordinances affecting key positions, including registrars, deans, and other officials across universities and academic bodies.
"While holding this leadership role, I remained fully committed to my responsibilities. I express my satisfaction that I was able to fulfil the duties entrusted to me by the Government of Nepal with honesty, transparency, and confidence, in line with my work style," shared Aryal. Despite challenges such as limited resources and structural constraints, he said he made sincere efforts to bring positive changes in higher education.
During his tenure, Aryal highlighted several reform initiatives aimed at improving both the quality and efficiency of the university. These included efforts to enforce an academic calendar ensuring publication of exam results within 100 days, administrative and structural reforms, expansion of online services, and strengthening of record protection through the Information and Innovation Centre.
"An important chapter of my active administrative life has now come to an end. I will now return to the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, where I will continue my studies, teaching, and research activities," shared Aryal.
