Supreme Court today re-instated Dr. Sangita Bhandary as the Vice Chancellor of Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS), lalitpur. A division bench of Justices Gopal Parajuli and Cholendra Shumsher Rana directed the government to reinstate Dr Sangita Bhandari as the vice-chancellor of Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS).
Before getting appointment as VC, Dr Sangita Bhandary , had been heading the ENT Department at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for eight years.

After appointment of Dr Sangita Bhandary as VC of PAHS and Dr. Sauma Bhattacharya as rector agitating doctors/employees at Patan Academy of Health Sciences prevented their entering in to the PAHS premises demanding new VC needs to be from among the senior doctors of the institution itself.
When the protest reach to climax then Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on December 5, 2012, suspended PAHS VC Bhandari and Rector Saumya Bhattarcharya and made a probe committee. Later he appointed inhouse Sr. surgeon Prof. Dr. Jay Narayan Shah as new Vice Chancellor of the academy
11 March 2013. Prof Dr. Kedar Prasad Baral has been appoineted as the new rector of the Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS).
After the reinstatement of Dr Sangita Bhandary, the fate of incumbent Rector, Registrar and Dean, appointmented by outgoing VC Dr. Shah is not certain.
