University of Cambridge International Examinations and British Council are delighted to announce the winners of the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, Nepal. The awards celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of secondary school learners in Nepal in the June and November 2010 Cambridge examination sessions.
The awards will be presented at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards Ceremony, to be held at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Kathmandu at 10.30 on 31 March 2011. Mr Parmanand Jha, Vice President, Nepal will be attending the ceremony to present the prizes.
This year, three students from Nepal attained the highest mark in the world and they will receive the prestigious top in the world award. Importantly 30 learners will receive awards for exceptional performance in Cambridge examinations, including three world toppers and 26 learners who attained the highest marks in Nepal in a single subject. Additionally, learners will be recognised for ‘High Achievement’ based on outstanding performance in subjects which are not so widely taken. Furthermore, learners who have achieved the total highest cumulative marks across a number of subjects will celebrate their achievements. The winning learners out-performed thousands of candidates worldwide who sat examinations in Cambridge International AS and A Level subjects, so it is a tremendous achievement.
These outstanding results are recognised by employers and universities around the world as proof of academic excellence.
Chowdhury Mariam Sayeed, Schools Development Manager, Nepal says: ‘I am very proud to congratulate learners across the country on their outstanding results in the Cambridge examinations. The results are a reflection of the enormous talent in Nepal, not only amongst the learners but also within the teaching profession. A great deal of hard work and dedication from the learners, as well as support from their schools and families, are behind these awards. Cambridge qualifications develop independent learners, and prepare young people for success in their further studies and beyond. These learners have a bright future ahead of them, and I wish them well.’
Ewan Davies, County Examinations Manager, British Council Nepal said: `The British Council would like to congratulate all those that have exceeded all expectations in their studies last year. All the students have demonstrated just how committed they are to reaching their full potential across a wide variety of A-level subjects. We congratulate and wish every student success in their studies at the higher institution of their choice’.
