SEE to Proceed as Planned Despite Earthquake Concerns in Jajarkot and Rukum West

The SEE, scheduled for this year, will be conducted as planned. This decision follows the recent earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West, which raised concerns about the feasibility of holding the exams in those affected areas. Dr. Mahashram Sharma, Chairman of the National Examination Board, after conducting an on-site assessment in the districts, affirmed that the earthquake's impact on education was minimal. Accordingly, the SEE will proceed according to the existing examination plan, covering both affected and unaffected areas.

EJON reported insights from a discussion held today, stating, "There were no interruptions in education due to the earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West." Dr. Sharma, having met with 70 teachers and principals in those districts, highlighted that there is no noticeable hindrance to education. He added, "There is no issue with textbooks, and students are prepared for the exams."

The National Examination Board had received requests from the education authorities in these districts to either conduct exams nationwide with a two-hour delay or allow separate examinations for the affected districts. However, before making any decisions, Chairman Dr. Sharma personally visited the regions for an on-the-ground assessment.

The Chairman mentioned that 485,444 students have registered for the SEE this year, with 246,004 males and 243,440 females. He disclosed that 35% of students will not receive a letter grade, meaning they will be marked as "Not Graded" (NG), signifying incomplete SEE results.

The SEE, aligned with the new curriculum, will evaluate students through a grading system. The NG designation indicates that the SEE is not fully completed, ensuring transparency in reporting exam outcomes. The exact schedule for the examinations, starting from Chaitra 6, 2080 will be announced soon, with the final date expected to be revealed by the end of the month of Poush, 2080.
