Kathmandu, Nepal – The Search and Recommendation Committee, formed to recommend names for appointing the vacant Vice Chancellor at Kathmandu University, has published a shortlist of candidates for the post. Out of 20 eligible candidates, it has selected ten who will proceed to the next round of selection procedure.
The committee's selection process adhered to the Kathmandu University Vice-Chancellor Search and Recommendation Procedure, 2081. Clause 9 of the procedure outlines the process for shortlisting candidates, and the committee evaluated applicants based on criteria outlined in Sub-clause (2) of Clause 8, specifically sections (a) through (g).
Tcommittee formed under the coordination of the founding Vice-Chancellor Suresh Raj Sharma will conduct the competition out of 100 points. Under this procedure, a shortlist has been published based on the evaluation of 30 points.
Ten short-listed candidates (in alphabetical order) are:

- Prof. Dr. Kanhaiya Jha
- Prof. Dr. Janardan Lamichhane
- Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel
- Prof. Dr. Bibhuti Ranjan Jha
- Prof. Dr. Bed Mani Dahal
- Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa
- Prof. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Koju
- Prof. Dr. Shyam Narayan Labh
- Prof. Dr. Subodh Sharma
These shortlisted candidates will now proceed to the next stage, which involves presenting their concept papers and strategic action plans. Following the presentations, candidates will be interviewed by the committee.
The presentation and interview schedule is as follows:
Presentations (Sama Center, Gyaneshwar, Kathmandu):
- Friday, 2081 Falgun 2nd:
- Candidates 1-5: 10:00 AM onwards
- Candidates 6-10: 2 PM onwards
Interviews (Sama Center, Gyaneshwar, Kathmandu):
- Saturday, 2081 Falgun 3rd:
- Candidates 1-5: 10:00 AM onwards
- Candidates 6-10: 2:00 PM onwards
Candidates are required to bring the original copies of all documents submitted with their applications to the Sam Center in Gyaneshwar, Kathmandu.
The names of the top three highest scorers will be recommended to the Prime Minister and Chancellor, and one of them will be appointed as VC of Kathmandu University.
