Sanskrit University Undertakes Initiative to Reclaim Encroached Land

The encroached land of Nepal Sanskrit University is undergoing a process of reclamation. The university team has initiated discussions and debates on reclaiming land with the relevant authority.

Binaya Kumar Pokhrel, the Deputy Administrator leading the bipartisan and all-party effort for the university's land reclamation, has conveyed information to the President and Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.

Prime Minister Dahal has expressed his commitment to studying and finding a solution after necessary research, as conveyed by Deputy Administrator Pokhrel. The university has land in four Dang district locations: Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, Lamahi Municipality, and Gadhawa and Rajpur Rural Municipalities. The total area of the university's land is one thousand six hundred and two bighas. Specifically, there are 168 bighas in Satbariya of Lamahi, 1,132 bighas in Rajpur, 326 bighas in Beljhundi of Tulsipur, and 36 bighas in Gobardiya of Gadhawa, as informed by Deputy Administrator Pokhrel. He also emphasized that all these lands are infringed upon.

Before fiscal year 2057, the university used to generate income from the land. However, as pointed out by Deputy Administrator Pokhrel, the university has been unable to generate any revenue from the land. Although the criteria for initiating the income generation process were in place, they have not been implemented, according to Pokhrel.

Despite the problem of land encroachment, university registrar Madhav Adhikari mentioned that the university is prepared to solve the problem and expressed concern when fake landowners create issues.

"Specifically, the problem of fake land ownership exists in only four hundred and eight bighas of land," Adhikari said. He explained that political parties are eager to find a solution to the problem.
