One notable student, Parshuram Rokka from Tuhuro in Rolpa, decided to pursue science in grade 12 at this institution after his father became a martyr seven months ago. Recounting his journey, he shared, "Following my father's martyrdom, my mother ensured my education up to grade 8 in our village. Subsequently, my sister, residing here, informed me about this school, leading me to enroll. Despite having completed grade 8 in Rolpa, I had to repeat the year due to the shift to an English medium."
Parshuram conveyed the profound love he experiences at the school, akin to the affection he felt from his father. He highlighted the exceptional bond formed among students, teachers, and staff, fostering a supportive family atmosphere. Additionally, he expressed joy in the interactions with fellow students, such as Anjana Dahital, who also triumphed over adversity.
The school accommodates a total of 145 residential students, all hailing from families confronted with various challenges like martyrdom, displacement, and disabilities. Parshuram acknowledged the happiness derived from sharing experiences, creating a nurturing community within the school.
Having faced similar challenges, including his father's imprisonment during the armed conflict, Parshuram stands with 145 current students from families grappling with diverse adversities. The collaboration between Janakalyan Secondary School and Dudharas led to the establishment of the school in 2066 B.S., with government funding supporting both residential and educational programs.
Principal Dhaneshwor Pokhrel highlighted the impactful nature of the school's educational initiatives, particularly for students affected by adversity, fostering strong bonds among students from various districts. He noted, "Beyond grade 8, we witness heightened participation from the third generation, extending beyond the children of those directly affected."
Despite government initiatives providing free education up to grade 12, the students express the need for an environment conducive to higher education. Parshuram emphasized, "While the government has made education up to grade 12 free, we encounter challenges in pursuing higher education. Adequate arrangements are necessary, akin to those provided for grade 12."
Expressing concerns about the impact of political party divisions on martyr families, Parshuram highlighted unfulfilled dreams following the Maoist party's dissolution. Despite these challenges, he remains thankful for the education and support he and his peers receive at Shahid Smriti Awasiya Secondary School.
