Kathmandu β MP Raghuji Panta has been appointed as the Minister for Education, Science, and Technology of Nepal. Panta is a UML MP elected through the proportional representation system.
President Ramchandra Paudel appointed Panta as the Education Minister on Wednesday upon the recommendation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli. Panta was appointed to the position after it became vacant following the resignation of Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai on Baishakh 8th. She resigned citing reasons including lack of cooperation from the Prime Minister and finding it difficult to carry out her duties.
Assistant Spokesperson of the President's Office, Basanta Prasad Panthi, announced through a statement that President Ramchandra Paudel has formed the Council of Ministers by making appointments, changes, and assigning portfolios within the existing Council of Ministers, in accordance with Article 76, Clause (9) of the Constitution of Nepal, upon the recommendation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.
The President's Office stated that the oath of office and secrecy ceremony for the newly appointed Minister Panta is scheduled for Thursday at 4 PM.
