Starting from this academic session, Purbanchal University intends to offer post-graduate programs in 'MSc in Construction Management' and 'MSc in Electrical Power Engineering' as part of their efforts to cultivate proficient professionals in the field of construction within the nation.
After considering the recommendations of experts, the university has officially sanctioned the courses for these subjects. To ensure adequate enrollment, a quota of 20 students per subject has been implemented in both the main campus and affiliated campuses. Furthermore, the Engineering Council has granted its endorsement for the inclusion of these subjects in the curriculum.
The curriculum development committees, consisting of experts from various fields, engaged in thorough discussions to create the curriculum for the new program. One of the committees specifically focused on revising the syllabus for 'Earthquake Engineering' at the postgraduate level. The committee carefully considered inputs from subject experts and relevant stakeholders such as the Nepal Electricity Authority, Civil Aviation Authority, Nepal Construction Association, Nepal Industry Association, as well as curriculum experts and commentators. After extensive deliberation, the committee reached a consensus and finalized the syllabus.
During the curriculum finalization program, Dr. Surya Raj Acharya, an expert in infrastructure, expressed his satisfaction with the curriculum, highlighting its effectiveness in bridging the gap between the university and the industrial sector. He firmly believes that the course will serve as a significant milestone in generating highly skilled professionals capable of competing both at the national and international levels.
At the undergraduate level, the university has been offering various engineering disciplines such as civil, electrical, bio-medical, electronics, and computer science. By providing education in these technical fields, the university has been effectively meeting the country's demand for skilled professionals. In order to further enhance the quality of education, the university has recently updated the curriculum for the undergraduate civil engineering program. Additionally, the university has projected the manpower requirements for the next decade and has made provisions for mandatory internships to ensure practical training for students.
