Council of Ministers has appointed Professor Dr. Yadav Prasad Lamichhane as the Vice-chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lamichhane has been teaching at Tribhuvan University for 42 years. Lamichhane, a professor of Nepali is also the president of the Nepal Progressive Teachers Association.
Nepal Sanskrit University, the then Mahendra Sanskrit University was established in 1986 with the objectives to systematize Sanskrit education up to a higher level, to preserve and promote its achievements, and develop Nepal into a center for learning Sanskrit language and literature. It is the second national university in Nepal. The university offers Intermediate (Uttar Madhyama), Bachelors (Shastri), Masters (Acharya), and Doctoral Courses in classical and modern Sanskrit.
