Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has filled the vacant posts of vice chancellors in two universities.
Koirala appointed Prof Dr Upendra Koirala as the vice-chancellor of Mid-Western University on 23rd September, 2015. Koirala is former vice-chairman at Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB)
Rameshwor Upadhaya, president of Nepal University Teachers’ Association, who is also the member of the VC Selection Committee, said today that the PM appointed the vice-chancellors on the recommendation of their committee.The two newly appointed VCs are close to CPN-UML.
Similarly, the prime minister also appointed Mahendra Yadav, who is close to Nepali Congress, as a member of teh Service Commission in Purbanchal University. The tenure of former VCs in seven out of nine universities had expired on August 7. Earlier, the PM had appointed VCs in four universities — Tribhuvan University, Purbanchal University, Nepal Sanskrit University, Far-Western University — on August 24 and Agriculture and Forestry University on August 26.
