Prof. Dr. Punya Prasad Regmi has been appointed as the Vice-chancellor of Agriculture and Forestry University by the Council of Ministers.
Vice-Chancellor Regmi has also taught at the University for 30 years and was the Deputy Chairman of the Karnali State Planning Commission. He is an expert in Agricultural Economics. Regmi said that he would create an environment for the upliftment of Agriculture and Forest University.

Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) has been established as a result of a bill enacted by the Nepalese Parliament in June 2010 at Rampur, Chitwan. Agriculture and Forestry University has its own specific and standard organizational structure, academic programs, and curricula developed by well experienced and qualified professional involved in the academic development for several decades, and is based on an extensive review of leading Agriculture and Forestry universities of Land Grant model in the SAARC region, South East Asia and developed countries.
