Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has highlighted the global relevance of the intellectual wealth established in the fundamental knowledge system in the southern region. Addressing a gathering at the inauguration ceremony of the meeting of Vice-Chancellors of Indian Universities (AIU) in the northern region and the Nepal-India Higher Education Summit, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed confidence in the contribution of the original intellectual wealth of the southern region to solving current global issues in areas such as medical education, lifestyle, and peace.
Prime Minister Prachanda emphasized the importance of harnessing the knowledge sources in the south on a global scale and announced the preparation of a significant declaration for higher education in the global south. He stated, "We must transcend the division between the South and the North based on economic criteria and seek ways to connect them through shared foundations." He acknowledged the leadership of Kathmandu University in Nepal in drafting the declaration for North-South connectivity and expressed confidence that such intellectual efforts would contribute to global cooperation.
In its 32-year history, Kathmandu University has been praised for its commendable efforts in internationalization and the expansion of educational programs. Prime Minister Prachanda expressed joy over the university's achievement of conferring degrees on more than five thousand international students. He claimed that the university's initiatives have not only understood the educational proposals of Nepal but have also enhanced understanding and collaboration in intercultural aspects.
Looking forward, Prime Minister Prachanda announced collaboration with the Vishweshwar Yoga Research Institute in India, providing yoga science and wellness programs in partnership with Tirupati in India. He congratulated Kathmandu University for expanding its educational programs abroad and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in enhancing Nepal's educational landscape.
