President Bidya Devi Bhandari, on the occasion of the 37th National Education Day today, presented different education awards to various students receiving college and university degrees with outstanding results.
President Bhandari honoured the winners with Bidhya Bhusan Padak ('A', 'B' and 'C') amidst a special ceremony at the Rastrapati Bhawan. On the occasion, Nepal Bidya Bhusan Padak 'A', the most prestigious literary award to be presented from the government, was presented to 190 individuals holding the Ph. D degrees from various universities at home and abroad.
Likewise, Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Padak ' B' was conferred on 81 individuals who passed the Masters' degree from various universities with the outstanding results. Similarly, 15 bachelor-level graduates were honoured with the Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Padak ' C'.
Another 26 students were honoured with the Nepal Chhatra (Girls) Bidhya Padak.
Speaking at the event, President Bhandari called on the awarded personalities to use their skills in nation building, and insisted on collective efforts to make education accessible to all with its timely reforms.
Education Minister Dhaniram Poudel stressed that the government should lay its focus on materialising the theme of this years' education day that was, “investment in useful education to build a prosperous nation".
