In the event organized by the Ministry of Education on the occasion of the 35th National Education Day and International Literacy Day, Nepal's President, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, awarded Nepal Bidhya Bhusan and Nepal Chhatra Bidhya Padak on students holding PhD and Master's degrees during a special event held at his official residence Shital Niwas, on Monday.
President Yadav distributed the medals and certificates to 297 students, including those completing PhD from different universities, in and out of the country, and those with outstanding performance in different levels.
Students who excelled academically by securing highest marks in different levels and also those who completed their PhD from different universities in and out of the country were awarded.
A total of 175 PhD holders were awarded with Nepal Bidhya Bhusan ‘A’ category medals and certificates.
Similarly, Nepal Bidhya Bhusan ‘B’ category medals were given to 62 students who topped in Master’s degrees and Nepal Bidhya Bhusan ‘C’ category medals were given to 20 students who scored highest marks in various faculties in Bachelor’s levels.
President Yadav also conferred Nepal Chhatra Bidhya Padak on 26 girl students scoring highest marks in Bachelor’s levels and on 14 students topping certificate level under different faculties. The students were recommended by the Ministry of Education. Addressing the function, President Yadav urged all award recipients to work towards achieving Literate Nepal Mission. “All awardees should support government and fulfil the responsibility they have towards the country,” said President Yadav.
Vice President Paramananda Jha, Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Prakash Man Singh, Education Minister Chitralekha Yadav and senior government officials were present.
