Dhulikhel, August 30: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced that the government is set to launch online classes across the country. The goal is to ensure that at least 70% of students pass the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).
Speaking at the 29th Convocation Ceremony of Kathmandu University, where he also serves as the Chancellor, Prime Minister Oli revealed that he had instructed relevant authorities to conduct special online classes in key subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Science on behalf of the central government.
"It is unjust for students that only about 50% pass the SEE. To rectify this, I have directed the Ministry of Education, Nepal Telecom, and other concerned agencies to make the necessary arrangements," he stated. "We have already begun working to ensure that the maximum number of students pass."
Prime Minister Oli further emphasized the government's commitment to demonstrating its purpose through tangible results, stating that the government will continue to move forward with even greater clarity and determination for the country's prosperity and the overall strengthening of education.
Citing his experience conducting online classes from Jhapa last year, which led to improved student results, the Prime Minister expressed his intention to expand this practice nationwide.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Oli urged the graduates from various faculties to utilize their acquired knowledge and skills effectively and to become responsible citizens who contribute to society.
He stated, "You can now showcase your abilities anywhere in the world. The world is open to you. You have succeeded due to your parents' investment and affection, so make good use of it and become dedicated citizens with a spirit of service."
Prime Minister Oli awarded the Chancellor's Gold Medal to Mijala Chitrakar, who achieved a 4.0 GPA in the School of Arts at the postgraduate level, and the Vice-Chancellor's Gold Medal to Mukesh Tiwari, who achieved a 4.0 GPA in the School of Science at the undergraduate level.
Additionally, Vice-Chancellor's Gold Medals were awarded to Swikar Dahal from Manipal College of Medical Sciences Pokhara, Rasmita Poudel from Birat Medical College Biratnagar, Arjun Das from the School of Medical Sciences, and Ranisha Poudel from the School of Education. Rasmita Poudel also received the Nhuchhe Ratna Tuladhar Gold Medal, and Ranisha Poudel was awarded the Mahesh Nath Parajuli Gold Medal.
Education, Science, and Technology Minister and Pro-Chancellor Bidhya Bhattarai, along with other dignitaries, attended the ceremony, during which 2,314 students, including international students, were conferred their degrees.
