'One School One Nurse' Programme in Province 3

Hetauda, Dec 6 (RSS): The Province 3 government has launched 'one school one nurse' scheme in various 20 community schools of the province.  

The Ministry of Social Development shared that it began the programme in order to encourage school children to adopt healthy lifestyle and help schools to cater skill-oriented health education.  The programme is launched in the schools which have met the requirement of physical infrastructures, and number of students and teachers.  

The Health Division under the Ministry shared information that the schools chosen for the programme are, Krishna Ratna Secondary School of Chautara, and Bhimtar Secondary School of Bhimatar from Sindhupalchowk; Janajyoto Secondary School of Phrosetar from Sindhuli; Kalika Himalayan Secondary School of Kalikasthan from Rasuwa; Manthali Secondary School from Ramechhap; Bindukeshar Secondary School of Tuksar and Tribhuvan Secondary School of Trishuli from Nuwakot. 

Others schools to have this scheme are from Hetauda, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Dolakha, Chitwan, Dhading and Bhaktapur districts.  The province government meeting of September 22 had endorsed the work procedure from the operation of the programme.  

Information Officer at the Ministry, Krishna Thapa, told RSS that if the programme becomes effective, it would be implemented in all others schools of the province from coming fiscal year.  The programme would be implemented on the basis of a tripartite agreement between the Ministry, local level and the concerned school.  

A nurse bearing the license from the Nursing Council would be appointed on a contract basis. The programme is expected to bring improvement in students' health and hygiene, promotion of nutrition and counseling on sexual and reproductive matters to the teenagers.
