One Lakh NOCs Issued for Abroad Studies in Less Than a Year

In less than a year, more than one lakh students have received a No Objection Letter (NOC) from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for higher education abroad.

Since last Shrawan, 1,002,873 people have taken NOC from the NOC branch of the ministry. According to a ministry source, the number of people taking NOC has extremely increased in the last 11 months as compared to the past. According to the branch, more than one thousand NOCs are issued daily.

The number of students taking NOC every week has increased dramatically since the Covid-19 epidemic. In the last 11 months, Revenue of Rs. 205.74 million have been collected from students for NOC alone, according to the NOC branch.

Since foreign universities eased the visa process for international students, it had a direct impact on Nepal. From January to June 25, 2022, 76,776 units were issued by the Ministry of NOC, said Hari Prasad Niraula, branch chief.

According to a NOC branch staff, Australia, Canada, the UK, Korea, and Japan are among the top destinations for students.

Between Ashad and the first week of Shrawan, 61,636 students took the NOC for Australia. In the same time period 16,328, 5,201, 4,852, and 1,192 students took NOC for Japan, Canada, USA, and Korea at various universities, according to the branch.
