Students with a minimum GPA of 1.6 in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) can now study any subject in classes 11 and 12.
The National Curriculum Development and Evaluation Council has decided to open the way for students who have not been able to study the subjects they want despite having a low score in SEE.
Minister of Education, Science, and Technology Devendra Poudel said that students may have failed in class 10 annual examination for various reasons and said that they might do better in the future if we give them a chance now. He said they brought the provision so that students won’t be discouraged.
Earlier, there was a system where students must obtain a minimum C+ grade to study science subjects.
Vaikunth Aryal, Director General of Curriculum Development Center, said the implementation would be done this year. The students who participated in the 2078 SEE can choose any subject above if they get a minimum GPA of 1.6.
There was also a situation where students who couldn’t get the minimum C+ in the subjects specified in SEE should go to India to pursue plus two levels. After completing their studies, they did not get equivalence. Thousands of students were suffering from this. Aryal, director general of the center, informed that the system has also been filtered.
Students who have pursued plus two from India will be provided equivalency, and those with a minimum GPA of 1.6 will also be able to pursue further degrees.
