New academic programs at Agriculture and Forestry University

With attraction among students towards technical education increasing, the Agriculture and Forestry University of Chitwan  has been preparing to introduce new courses and programmes of late.

According to university registrar Professor Suryakanta Ghimire, they have started the Master’s and PhD programmes in Rural Sociology and Master’s in Environment Conservation and Bio-technology Science from this year keeping students’ demand in mind.

“We have also launched the PhD programme in Development Studies from this session itself, and are preparing to launch further programmes, such as Master’s in Agricultural Commerce Management, Dairy Science and Poultry Farming and Bachelor’s in Agricultural Engineering,” Dr Ghimire said.Currently, the university is running bachelor’s to PhD level programmes in courses such as Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Livestock Medical Science, Fishery and Forestry.

A total of 1,101 students are enrolled at the university in different faculties at the present.Regarding the fact that only a few hundred get enrolled every year, university Vice-chancellor Prof Kailashnath Pyakurel informed about the future plan of the university to grant affiliation to other constituent and private colleges.

“As for the affiliation this year, we have received 20 applications from colleges,” said Pyakurel, adding that the university is also designing necessary courses.
