Nepal Engineers Council Receives 6,023 Applications for Upcoming Licensing Examination

In a surge of enthusiasm among Nepal's aspiring engineers, an impressive 6,023 candidates, including fresh graduates and those with overseas education, have submitted their applications for the upcoming license examination. The Nepal Engineering Council, responsible for overseeing engineering license examination, had recently opened the application window with a one-month deadline and got a remarkable response from eager engineering graduates.

Council registrar, Mr. Shivamangal Giri announced that the process of checking applicants' credentials is already underway. The final list of eligible candidates will be published shortly, allowing transparency and fairness in the selection process.

This year, the Council has decided to administer the examination used in the previous year, presenting an opportunity for candidates who previously fell short to demonstrate their proficiency once again. This marks the third consecutive year in which the written examination will be conducted, emphasizing the Council's commitment to maintaining high standards of engineering practice.

However, it's worth noting that the previous exams saw a considerable number of candidates facing challenges in securing a passing grade. In the first examination, only 565 out of 2,066 candidates achieved success, amounting to a pass rate of 28.16%. Among the 378 candidates with an international educational background who participated, merely 58 managed to obtain the engineering license.

In the second year, there was a modest improvement in the pass rate, with 801 out of 2,468 candidates successfully securing the license, a pass rate of 33.87%. Nevertheless, the trend of limited success among internationally educated candidates persisted, as only 41 out of 404 passed.

In a bid to enhance accessibility, the Nepal Engineers Council has adjusted the pass mark requirement. Candidates now need to achieve a score of 40 out of 100 on the objective-based examination to qualify for the engineering license.

To date, a total of 78,800 engineers have been licensed in Nepal, contributing to the nation's engineering workforce.
