The Nepal Bar Council has announced the opening of online applications for the 33rd Advocate Level Examination. Eligible candidates meeting the required qualifications are invited to apply through the official online portal.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must have completed a Bachelor's degree in Law or have practiced law continuously for 7 years after obtaining the Certificate of Abhibakta.
- In the case of students who have completed a Bachelor's degree in Law from Nepal Open University, only those who had enrolled and obtained their degree prior to the implementation of the Nepal Bar Council (Legal Education) Regulations, 2077, are eligible to fill out the examination form, in accordance with the interim order dated 2080/09/06 issued in the case No. 080-FN-0484 (079-WC-0010) by the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court. In this regard, a mandatory recommendation from the concerned authority must be obtained and submitted along with the application form.
Required Documents:
- Transcript and Character Certificate of a Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- Nepali Citizenship Certificate.
- For foreign graduates: Equivalency Certificate from Tribhuvan University.
- In case of Abhibakta: Certificate of Abhibakta and documents verifying 7 years of continuous legal practice.
- Recent passport-sized photo with both ears visible.
- A photo of the applicant's signature and thumbprints (both thumbs) is clearly visible on plain white paper.
Note: Upload each document only once. Providing false information will be subject to legal action.

- Total Fee: NPR 4,500 (includes form and exam fee).

- It is not permitted to deposit the application fee in the name of more than one applicant using the same mobile number.

Online Application Portal:
Candidates can apply through exam.smart.org.np by logging in using their email and password. You can verify your application status using the same credentials. Admit cards can be downloaded one week before the exam.
Application Deadline:
- From 2082/03/01 to 2082/03/21
- With double fee: up to 2082/03/28
Exam Centers:
- Kathmandu for Bagmati Province.
- For other provinces, an examination center will be established only if the number of examinees reaches 50, and it will be located at a place designated by the Examination Committee, either in the provincial capital or at a location where the Council's contact office is situated.
- Candidates must choose their exam center while applying.
- Generally, the examination center will not be changed. However, in exceptional cases, a change of center may be allowed only for candidates who either permanently reside in the requested center location or provide a satisfactory reason to the Examination Committee, along with payment of the prescribed fee.

Important Notes for Applicants:
- Applicants who have already filled out the online form for previous examinations must use the same email and password. Since other details will already be filled in, they are only required to upload the new bank voucher for the fee payment for this examination.
- As the name on the academic certificates must match the name on the Nepali citizenship certificate, applicants whose names differ between these documents must submit a verification document from the concerned District Administration Office confirming they are the same person.
- If the address mentioned in the academic or other documents differs from the one stated in the citizenship certificate, supporting documents (such as a recommendation from the local level authority, migration certificate, or marriage registration document) must be provided.
- As the form includes the mother's name as per official documentation, the name mentioned in the mother's citizenship certificate must be used.
Examination Regulations:
- Examinees must carry their admit card with them throughout the exam. No examinee will be allowed to enter or remain in the exam hall without a valid admit card.
- No examinee will be permitted to enter the exam hall after 30 minutes from the start of the exam. Additionally, examinees are not allowed to leave the exam hall within one hour after the exam has started.
- Examinees must sit in the assigned seat as per the seat plan and take the exam at the designated place. They are not allowed to change their seat voluntarily without permission from the center chief or invigilator.
- Examinees are not allowed to bring or carry any prohibited items (Mobile Phone, Calculator, Bluetooth, iPad, Tablet PC, earphones, Smart Watch) or any other electronic/digital devices into the exam hall.
- Examinees who are contagious, unwell, or disabled must inform the center chief about their condition at least one hour before the exam starts. Visually impaired examinees or those unable to write by hand can request assistance by applying to the council office. After evaluation, a person studying one level below the required qualification for the relevant exam may be allowed as a scribe.
- Examinees must use only black ink. If any answer sheet is found to be written fully or partially in ink of any other color or marked with any signs, the answer sheet will not be evaluated.
- For multiple-choice exams, the question paper’s group (Key) must be clearly mentioned on the answer sheet. If the Key is not mentioned, the exam will be canceled. While marking answers for multiple-choice questions, the correct option must be marked by making a black dot (•) in the designated box. The multiple-choice question paper must be returned along with the answer sheet. If an examinee is found to have taken the multiple-choice question paper without submitting it back, their exam will be automatically canceled.
