Nepal and Qatar have entered into a collaboration agreement aimed at fostering cooperation in higher education and diplomatic training. This agreement comes following a two-day visit by Qatar's King Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Nepal.
During discussions between Nepal's Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Qatar's representatives, both parties reached a consensus on enhancing collaboration in various fields, particularly in education and diplomacy. This agreement was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed by the respective ministers from both nations.
As outlined by Nepal's Prime Minister's Office, the memorandum of understanding involves cooperation between Nepal's Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) and Qatar's Diplomatic Institute. The focus lies on diplomatic training and education, signifying a mutual commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Additionally, agreements were reached in other areas, including news exchange between the National News Agency of Nepal and the Qatar News Agency. This move is expected to facilitate better understanding and communication between the two nations.
The collaboration extends to various sectors such as arts and culture, youth and sports, as well as legal bodies. This comprehensive approach reflects the depth of cooperation envisaged between Nepal and Qatar.
Furthermore, Two understandings have been reached between the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Qatar Chamber of Commerce. There is mention of establishing a Joint Business Council in Nepal in the agreement reached at the governmental level.
